Munich, Germany – 08.04.2025 – Continuing its journey on accelerating the energy transition, phelas has made some leadership changes, underlining their growth trajectory, development and commitment in advancing energy storage solutions.

Since its founding, phelas has been on a clear mission to bring innovative solutions to the energy storage sector.  In the course of their journey, they have expanded from developing a new Liquid Air Energy Storage system to additionally providing customers energy storage advice, through their in-house developed feasibility software. This Catalyst software will play a central role in phelas journey going forward.

At the helm of this next phase, Christopher Knoch will lead the company as CEO. Knoch, who has been at phelas since the very start as a co-founder, has been core to shaping phelas’ strategy, operations, and partnerships. He brings a decade of experience in consulting — particularly in the private equity space — as well as deep sector knowledge and strategic vision that will continue to steer phelas forward.

Together with co-founders Leon Haupt (energy markets & software product) and Dr. Masoud Ghods (CTO, hardware development), phelas sharpens their mission to deliver cutting-edge tools that drive the energy transition forward.

Justin Scholz has decided to step back from day-to-day operations while remaining a committed shareholder and trusted advisor to phelas. His contributions helped shape the company’s foundation and vision, and are greatly appreciated.

Looking ahead, phelas continues with the same focus on technology and collaboration that their partners have come to rely on. The team is very excited for the next phase in making the energy transition a success that is built to last.
